Well
production rates are normally (continuously) monitored
using test separator facilities. These units are often
costly and large packages, including for various measurement
devices. The size of the separator is based on sufficiently
efficient separation in order to facilitate measurement
of the different streams, gas, oil & produced water.
Yet another method of operation
can be found. This new way of measurement does not require
separation of the two liquid phases, moreover, only
a rough (coarse) separation of gas and liquid is required.
The measurement devices selected are based on a gamma
ray emitter / detector unit for the liquid phase and
an ultrasonic (or equal) device for the gas stream.
Subject
measurement technology has been developed in close co-operation
with Shell.
A very compact package is thus possible, allowing for
limited foot print suitable for limited off-shore deck
space availability. |
