The newer version of the energy consumption calculator is now here
http://www.flowmeterdirectory.com/energy_consumption_calculator.html
You can use the efficiency calculator on cold water chillers and hot water applicatios. There are a myriad of circumstances in energy industries where this calculation is useful especially in heating ventilation airconditioning and cooling commonly known as HVAC
Make sense of the energy in (kW-hr) to out (Btu/hr (or Tons). Air conditioning and chilling systems and heat pump systems. Chillers use recirculating water unlike air to transfer heat on both evaporator and condenser aspects of a cooling or refrigeration cycles. Making sense of all the instrument measurements retrieved and using this calculator saves time doing manual calculations.
The flow rate of fluid required for the thermal energy transfer can be calculated as:
where :
q - flow rate [m3/h]
ρ - density of fluid [kg/m3]
c - specific heat of fluid [kJ/kgK]
Δ T - temperature difference [K]
P - power [kW]
This relation can be used to calculate required flow rate of, for example water heated in the boiler if the power of boiler is known
In that case temperature difference in above equation is the change of temperature of fluid in front and after the boiler. It should be said that efficiency coefficient should be included in above equation for a precise calculation.
