Flow Meters are used in stationary pumping fuel
dispensors and mobile vehicle instrumentation,
including both passenger car and heavy truck applications,
ship engines and aerospace. Mechanical flow meters
designed for metering diesel fuel, gasoline, kerosene,
mineral spirits, stoddard solvent and heptane
. Some fuel meters also feature fuel control as
well as fuel flow measurement. Traditionally fuel
meters have been built using mechanical principles
such as turbine and positive displacement (pd
meters) but breakthroughs in technology have paved
the way for measurement of fuels using non-mechanical
devices such as ultrasonic fuel meters.
