A flowmeter is a device that is used to measure either the velocity of a fluid, the volumetric or the mass flow.
Flow Meter users have different flow measurement purposes. Some may simply be local/remote indication of fluid flow rate while some require some form of electrical output for e.g an analog or digital output.
Other flowmeters may be installed to totalize flow – an example being the common water meter.
Most popular designs of the common water meter show the total volume of flow e.g in M3 or FT3 for water billing purposes. They employ the use of a mechanical counter.
